  • do you guys have any suggestions?  i'm trying to find a restaurant in the city that has good food and a nice atmosphere?  our 1 year anniversary is next weekend and we don't have the slightest idea where to wine & dine!    i'm not a fan of those pretentious restaurants where the portions are tiny and i feel way out of place.

  • my friend's parents own a sushi shop in greek town (weird, i know). they go to st. paul too. it's on 810 w jackson, just west of halsted. the portions are pretty good and the price is pretty cheap for sushi. tell them I told you to go and maybe they'll throw in a free appetizer or a discount!

  • what kind of food and how nice do you want it to be?  When are you free! I want to meet jobie

  • btw it's your fault i've been having cicada nightmares lately

  • Wow, time flies! Congrats on your anniversary =)

  • For Italian food and a nice atmosphere you can try THINK Cafe.  Its BYOB but they have wine you can buy there too.  Its really nice in the inside.

  • Blue Water Grill is awesome.  So is the lounge in the W Hotel off Lake Shore... I forget the name of it now.  Blue Water Grill would be my choice... they have a restaurant (reservation recommended) and a jazz bar/lounge also if you wanted to sit there and chill after. =)

  • kyu's last holiday party was at the blue water grill. the atmosphere was definitely nice. i would like to go somewhere nice like that. :) i don't have a preference to the type of food. i wouldn't mind trying something..different.

    keep the suggestions coming! thanks!

  • I just thought of another restaurnt.  It's like mexican/french....Dorado.

  • Wave - In the W Hotel off LSD.  Very romantic & fun; they specialize in dishes where people "share the plate".  Pitchers of Sangria are REALLY good here.  (My top recommendation if you've never been.)

312 Chicago - Theatre district downtown.  Lighter atmosphere & mood & prices - not so dark/dim/romantic, but very light-hearted.  Custom daily menus.

Japonais - Halsted & Chicago Ave - most people know this place for their after-hours lounge.  But it's beautiful decor and great sushi.  They have a waterfall inside - mood/setting.

Rhapsody - if you wanted to eat outdoors, I would choose this place.  Not too pricey either for the area it's in.  I only had lunch there, so I have no opinions on their dinner menu.  They have a very nice/cute outdoor seating arrangement tho.

  • Brasserie Jo - if you like French.  Seriously, one of the best experiences I've ever had was here... food, decor, service, atmosphere & everything.  Wine selection is one of the best, as is menu variety.  It's on Hubbard & Dearborn, and they have valet parking.

River North is my dining area of preference, nary a bad experience with restaurants in that general area.

  • no, in chicago.
